Overview Tab within Zone Alarm

Upon double-clicking Zone Alarm's icon within the system tray (bottom right hand corner) you will open the Zone Alarm Security Suite. The first tab on your left is the overview tab. Zone Alarm Pro automatically defaults to this section upon opening it. The first page open will be the "Status Page". The Status Page displays a quick overview of your entire system.

The overview is labeled as follows:

  • Blocked Intrusions - Shows you how many times the Zone Labs security software firewall and MailSafe have acted to protect you, and how many were high-rated alerts.
  • Inbound Protection - Indicates whether your firewall is on and displays the number of Firewall alerts, MailSafe alerts, and Internet Lock alerts that have occurred since the last reset. If a warning is displayed, click the underlined warning text to go immediately to the panel where you can adjust your settings.
  • Outbound Protection - Indicates whether program control is configured safely and displays the number of program alerts that have occurred since the last reset. Zone Labs security software will warn you if program control is disabled.
  • E-mail Protection - Indicates whether MailSafe is enabled and displays the number of attachments that have been quarantined since the last reset. If a warning is displayed, click the underlined warning text to go immediately to the panel where you can adjust your settings.
  • Anti-virus / Anti-spyware - Indicates whether virus and spyware protection is enabled and displays the number of viruses and spies that have been treated.
  • IM Security Protection - Indicates whether Instant Messaging protection is enabled and displays the number of messages that have been scanned.

The second page named "Product Info" within the Overview tab. The product info tab is just that, product information. It shows you the "Version Information" about your version of Zone Alarm Pro. It displays your license number and the option to change it in case you acquire a new serial number. It displays when your "Update Service" and when your "Security Suite" expire. Finally it displays whether your version is registered and the option to register it.

The final page located within the Overview tab is "Preferences". Within this page you can set your options to automatically update Zone Alarm Pro automatically or manually. It also has the option to check for an update by clicking on the button labeled "Check For Update". Within this page you can also secure your settings within Zone Alarm Pro to set a password to prevent others who may use your PC from changing your preferred settings. The option to backup your security settings within a file will also enable you to save them and load them at any time your settings may have been altered. Zone Alarm should be set to automatically load at startup, if you feel this may be a major draw on your PC, you can uncheck this option and load it within your own preference. This however is not recommended. The last section edits the options when "Contacting Zone Labs". You can edit the options so that your privacy is protected with the highest regard.
