Google toolbar is not only an efficient way to query the search engine, but also a great start in stopping pop-ups. Which is one of the many causes of receiving spyware. To download the Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer please open IE and navigate to the address bar and type in, toolbar.google.com and press enter.
Once the Google Toolbar page has finished loading you will notice the "new features" are displayed to your left and to install it you simply click on "Download Google Toolbar". Upon clicking on the button, a screen will pop up prompting you to "Run", "Save", or "Cancel". We recommend you click "Run" to immediately install the Google Toolbar as soon as it is done downloading.
You internet connection will vary how long it requires for the full download to complete. However, Google has made the file quite light so with even a dial-up connection it should be done in a fairly reasonable time.
Immediately after it is downloaded, a prompt will appear before your screen asking you if you would like to "Run" or "Don't Run" the program. Please click on "Run" to begin installing Google Toolbar.
Upon clicking run you will be greeted by the Google Toolbar Installer. Here you can choose:
- Your default Google Search Page
- If you would like to make Google your default search engine and enable "Browsing by Name" in your address bar
- You have the option to "Close all IE Windows automatically or manually. We recommend that you have all IE windows closed prior to installation.
- Lastly you have the "Terms and Conditions" agreement that you must agree to in order to continue.
When you have made your selections please click "Agree and Continue".
After you will be prompted with a screen that asks if you would like to "Enable" or "Disable" advanced features. This is up to you if you do not mind sending information about the websites you visit. Once you have decided please click Finish.
Google Toolbar will now quickly install, close the IE window you are working in, and re-open another.
