IMPORTANT NOTE Please note that you must install Windows® Defender using Internet Explorer only. If you are having problems with Internet Explorer please feel free to use our forums section for help.
In order to download Windows® Defender you need to navigate to Microsoft's main page. This is the main Microsoft web site. Upon navigating to that location, halfway down the page you will see a section titled "Popular Downloads". Under this section you will find a link titled, Windows® Defender (BETA 2). Please click on this link to bring you to the download page for Windows® Defender.
The Windows® Defender download page will contain information regarding the version number, file name, date published, language, download size, estimated time, a short overview of the program, and a section to download the x64 version for the x64 version of Windows® XP. In order to continue you must first validate your copy of Windows®. Directly underneath the title of the page "Windows® Defender (BETA 2)" you will see a button that reads "Continue" with "Validation Required" written directly next to it. Please click on "Continue" in order to continue with the installation.
If your copy of Windows® has already been validated you will instantly see the once "Continue" button turn into a button that now reads "Download" and "Microsoft Genuine Software" is now read directly after.
However if you have not validated your copy of Windows® yet it will instead bring you to a new page where you will have to install an Active X control so your copy of Windows® maybe validated. The page will display first with instructions on how to install the Active X control. A few short seconds afterwards a pop-up will display with 2 options, "Install" and "Don't Install". Please click "Install" in order to proceed with the installation of the Active X component that will verify your copy of Windows®.
After your copy of Windows® is validated you will be returned to the download page for Windows® Defender. Please click on the "Download" button.
Upon clicking the "Download" button you will be brought to a new page thanking you for downloading Windows® Defender. Shortly after the page has loaded a pop-up will appear with the option for you to; "Run", "Save", or "Cancel". Please click on "Run" in order to begin downloading and installing Windows® Defender.
Depending on your internet connection speed the download may take as long as 16 minutes or be as little as 2 minutes.
Once Windows® Defender is done downloading it will prompt you with another window asking you to choose "Run" or "Don't Run". Please click on "Run" in order to start the installation process.
